LiftMaster is the professional brand of The Chamberlain Group, and its gate line runs from residential actuators to industrial slide operators, barrier arms and smart video intercoms. Most of the line uses an LED diagnostic display and monitored safety inputs, so a LiftMaster that stops usually leaves a trail to follow.
We repair LiftMaster operators across residential, commercial and industrial sites, and service the barrier arms and CapX intercoms that work with them.
Gate Core Automation is an independent service company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by LiftMaster or The Chamberlain Group.

LiftMaster's published manufacturer warranty depends on the model and how it is used. Its commercial DC and AC operators carry 5 years in commercial use and 7 years in residential use. The RSL12UL and RSW12UL carry 3 years, the LA400UL and LA500UL actuators 2 years, the industrial INSL24UL and IHSL24UL 5 years, barrier operators 2 years on components with the Mega Arm cabinet covered for 10, and the CapX intercoms 2 years. The access controllers carry 2 years.
Specifications and manufacturer warranty terms on this page are taken from LiftMaster's published information as of October 2026 and may change without notice. A Delray Beach beach-house gate stuck open, operator dead from salt-air corrosion. How we confirmed the failed LiftMaster CSL24UL and replaced it the same day.
Read more →What we check first. The error codes. Most LiftMaster operators report the fault on their diagnostic display, so the code tells us where to start before anything gets taken apart.
Most LiftMaster operators have a fire department setting that opens the gate on power failure or when the backup battery runs down. That is a setting doing its job, not a fault, and it can be changed.
On models with PosiLock (CSL24UL, HDSL24UL, RSL12UL), the operator powers the gate back closed if it gets pushed off its closed position. It is a security feature.
LiftMaster operators require monitored safety devices, such as photo eyes and safety edges. A device that is blocked, misaligned or failed will stop the gate from closing. That is the operator protecting people, and the device is the first thing to check.
Mega Arm and TECHNA arms are built to break away instead of damaging the operator. A Mega Arm arm can usually be re-mounted, and TECHNA also logs the strike and can report it.
The diagnostic display reports the fault, and the pattern points to where to look.
There is no blanket answer on a LiftMaster. What actually decides it:
Which generation you have. LiftMaster updated its operators to newer UL 325 standards, and older units may not take current parts or safety devices.
Whether the operator matches the gate. Every model has a weight and length rating. An operator pushing past it for years will keep failing no matter what gets replaced.
Whether the model is still made. Discontinued units like the SL585 and SL595 can often be kept running, and when they cannot, the INSL24UL is built to replace them on the same footprint.
Manufacturer warranty status. LiftMaster terms change with the model and with residential or commercial use, so it gets checked per unit.
